Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest
Status: Released (November 2022)
Lugia Rises from the Deep
The Sword & Shield era began to wind down on November 11, 2022, with Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest. The face of the set was "Lugia VSTAR," which completely dominated competitive play. Its "Summoning Star" ability allowed players to bench two "Archeops" directly from the discard pile, creating an energy-accelerating engine that was fast, consistent, and incredibly powerful. For months, "Lugia" was the deck to beat at every major tournament.
The Final Main Set
As the final main expansion of the generation, Silver Tempest went out with a bang. Collectors chased the "Alternate Art Lugia V," depicting a storm brewing over the ocean, as well as the beautiful "Unown V" Alternate Art. The set also included "Regidrago VSTAR," which became a fan-favorite for its ability to copy dragon attacks from the discard pile. Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest was a fitting, powerful conclusion to a main series that had transformed the TCG landscape.
