Mega Evolution Revolutionizes Battle in XY

The Pokémon TCG entered a new dimension on February 5, 2014, with the release of the XY base set. This expansion officially introduced the sixth generation of Pokémon to the card game, bringing the Kalos region's wonders to life. XY is historic for debuting two major mechanics: the Fairy type (represented by basic Energy for the first time) and Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution cards evolved from Pokémon-EX and offered incredible power, but with a twist: playing one instantly ended your turn, adding a new layer of risk management to every match.

The Power of Xerneas and Yveltal

The mascots of the Kalos region, Xerneas and Yveltal, immediately made their mark on the game. "Yveltal-EX" became the centerpiece of one of the most dominant decks in history, earning the nickname "Yveltal the Destructor" for its "Evil Ball" attack. Meanwhile, Xerneas's "Geomancy" attack provided the perfect energy acceleration for the new Fairy-type archetypes. With the introduction of the Fairy Garden stadium and the powerful Aromatisse, XY established a vibrant, strategic meta that felt fresh and exciting for all players.
