Black & White—Plasma Blast
Status: Released (August 2013)
Team Plasma Goes Out with a Blast in Black & White—Plasma Blast
The finale of the Team Plasma trilogy exploded onto the scene with Black & White—Plasma Blast , released on August 14, 2013. This expansion marked the climax of the Black & White series, featuring the Grass-type "Genesect-EX" and the Grass-type "Virizion-EX," which reinvigorated Grass decks in the competitive meta. Black & White—Plasma Blast continued the trend of powerful Team Plasma cards but also introduced new tools to counter them, such as the "Silver Bangle" item card.
The Era of Virizion and Genesect
The combination of Virizion-EX and Genesect-EX defined the end of the Black & White era. Virizion-EX provided immunity to special conditions and energy acceleration, while Genesect-EX used its "Red Signal" ability (essentially a built-in Pokémon Catcher) to snipe key targets. The set also introduced the "Master Ball" ACE SPEC, a consistency card that allowed players to search for any Pokémon without drawbacks. With the incredibly rare shiny "Rare Candy" and "Ultra Ball" secret rares, Black & White—Plasma Blast offered a thrilling conclusion to one of the most innovative eras in Pokémon TCG history.
