Black & White—Dragons Exalted

Status: Released (August 2012)

Witness the Rise of Dragons in Black & White—Dragons Exalted

A new power emerged on August 15, 2012, with the release of Black & White—Dragons Exalted . This expansion is historically significant for officially introducing the Dragon type to the Pokémon TCG, complete with its own unique card layout and energy requirements. Black & White—Dragons Exalted brought legendary might to the forefront, featuring Dragon-type versions of Rayquaza-EX, Giratina-EX, and Garchomp. With over 120 cards, this set challenged deck builders to master the new dual-energy costs required by these draconic titans.

Rayquaza-EX and the Dragon Era

The undeniable king of this set was Rayquaza-EX. When paired with the "Dynamotor" Eelektrik, its "Dragon Burst" attack could deal unlimited damage, instantly knocking out any Pokémon in the game. This made the "RayEels" deck a dominant force in tournaments. Black & White—Dragons Exalted also introduced a new version of Hydreigon with the "Dark Trance" ability, which allowed for infinite energy movement in Darkness decks. With secret rare versions of Reuniclus and Serperior, along with the sheer novelty of the new Dragon type, this set remains a favorite among fans of the Black & White series.
