25 Years of Pokémon in Celebrations

On October 8, 2021, the world celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Pokémon with the special set Celebrations . This expansion was a pure nostalgia trip, featuring a 25-card "Classic Collection" that reprinted legendary cards like "Base Set Charizard," "Umbreon Star," and "Shiny Magikarp" with a special anniversary stamp. The main set focused on Legendary Pokémon like "Mew" and "Ho-Oh," bringing every generation together in one package.

Mew VMAX and Genesect V

While the classic reprints were for collectors, the main set introduced one of the most powerful competitive decks ever: "Mew VMAX." Paired with "Genesect V," whose "Fusion Strike System" ability allowed players to draw cards until they had as many cards as they had Fusion Strike Pokémon in play, this deck offered unparalleled speed. Players could draw massive amounts of cards every turn for free, allowing them to cycle through their entire deck and find exactly what they needed. Celebrations successfully balanced being a collector's dream with providing top-tier competitive cards.
