Sword & Shield—Lost Origin

Status: Released (September 2022)

The Lost Zone Returns in Lost Origin

The "Lost Zone" mechanic made a terrifying comeback on September 9, 2022, with Sword & Shield—Lost Origin . The set's mascot, "Giratina VSTAR," could instantly knock out your opponent's active Pokémon if you had 10 or more cards in the Lost Zone. This mechanic, powered by the "Comfey" + "Colress's Experiment" engine, created a high-skill, high-reward playstyle that rewarded careful resource management.

Aerodactyl and the Pikachu Gallery

While Giratina dominated the tables, collectors were hunting for the "Aerodactyl V" Alternate Art, which featured a beautifully painted prehistoric landscape. The Trainer Gallery also returned with a heavy focus on Pikachu, featuring "Pikachu VMAX" with Red and "Pikachu V" with a sleeping Pikachu. Sword & Shield—Lost Origin successfully revived a beloved mechanic while delivering some of the most striking artwork of the entire generation.
