The Rise of Mega Charizard

While mostly known for its collectibility, XY—Flashfire did bring some heat to the competitive table. "Pyroar" with its "Intimidating Mane" ability became a powerful anti-meta wall, preventing damage from all Basic Pokémon (including the popular Pokémon-EX). The set also introduced "Lysandre," a supporter card that allowed players to target specific Pokémon on the opponent's bench, becoming a staple in almost every deck for years to come.
