Black & White—Boundaries Crossed
Status: Released (November 2012)
Cross the Line with Black & White—Boundaries Crossed
The world of *Pokémon Black 2* and *White 2* exploded into the TCG with Black & White—Boundaries Crossed, released on November 7, 2012. This expansion is defined by the introduction of "ACE SPEC" cards—phenomenally powerful trainer cards limited to one per deck. Black & White—Boundaries Crossed also featured new forms of the legendary Tao Trio, including Black Kyurem-EX and White Kyurem-EX. With over 140 cards, this set pushed the boundaries of power creep and strategy, introducing mechanics that are still remembered fondly today.
The Power of ACE SPEC and Keldeo-EX
Competitive play was revolutionized by Black & White—Boundaries Crossed. The ACE SPEC "Computer Search," which allowed players to search their deck for any single card, remains one of the most powerful consistency tools ever printed. The set also introduced Keldeo-EX, whose "Rush In" ability combined with Squirtle’s "shell shield" (from an earlier set) created the unstoppable "Blastoise/Keldeo" archetype. Collectors also chase the beautiful shiny secret rare versions of Pokémon like Altaria and the full-art Skyla supporter. Whether you were mastering the new ACE SPEC mechanics or collecting the new Kyurem forms, this set truly crossed new boundaries.
